What is your favorite late night snack? You know, the nights when you should be heading to bed, but you have a craving for something to eat and just want a quick snack so you can fall asleep easier?
Some people crave sweets just before bed. I remember my dad used want to bowl of ice cream every night while he watched the late night news. My little brother has that same habit. I know he loves ice cream and is very particular about the brand of the ice cream and the flavor that he wants. Most of the time he wants Breyer’s Ice Cream, Vanilla Bean, and then he pours a couple of squirts of Hershey’s chocolate syrup over the top.
I don’t crave sweets – hardly ever. I’m just not a dessert person. I like salty stuff – and don’t ask me why. I have no idea. I would want a small bag of chips or a handful of salted nuts for a snack. Sometimes, I like a cold slice of leftover pizza – but not often. In fact, most of the time I don’t keep leftover pizza around. To me it does not taste as good after the pizza sits in the refrigerator for a day or two. I try to order just enough pizza to feed me or me and a guest, and not go overboard with too much pizza. If there is any leftover, sometimes I throw it out and every once in a while I will put a couple slices into a Ziploc freezer bag and stick it in the freezer.
I used to eat popcorn at night, mostly because it was fast and easy and I though it was a little healthier than other snacks. But I found out that the hard kernels in a handful of popcorn can cause my teeth to crack and I don’t need that kinda of trouble. So I’ve given up on popcorn and sticking with a small bowl of tortilla or potato chips and some salsa or guacamole.
