She Really Can’t Cook

My roommate can really get on my nerves sometimes. She wastes food and that is a huge problem to me.I was raised to eat everything on my plate and to not waste food. But she cooks huge quantities of food that I don’t even like to eat and then throws most of it away.

For one thing, the few times that she actually even cooks, she cooks two or three times as much food as we need to actually feed the people who will be eating. There is just not good reason for cooking enough food for 6-8 people when it is just two of us at home to eat it.

In the second place, she refuses to eat leftovers. She always make a big deal about finding the perfect sized plastic¬† storage containers and bowls that she covers with Saran Wrap and crowds the refrigerator with a half dozen bowls. And then, she leaves them there. What does she think? That I want to eat that leftover food? No thanks, I don’t even like her cooking when it is fresh. I sure don’t want to reheat the stuff and eat it for 3 or 4 days later!

Bargains on Christmas Clearance

This morning I realized that we had no breakfast meats in the house and decided to take a quick trip to the grocery store. When I pulled my cart around the corner I came across an assortment of carts and boxes filled with clearance items leftover from Christmas. They had candies and toys for up to 80% off the original prices. I scored on some Hershey’s kisses and Reese’s peanut butter cups. They are normally almost $4 a bag and I bought 4 bags for $1 each. It was not something I really needed, but the bargain price was too good to pass up.

Farewell 2011, and Welcome 2012

The past year has been full of tragedies, dramas, comedies and some good things, too.¬† I can’t help but wonder what will 2012 hold for us that will top all the newsworthy moments of 2011? I hope the events are good, with peace, prosperity and good health bestowed on my family and friends.
